Environmental Health Officer/Technical Officer

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an Environmental Health Officer/Technical Officer for a Local Authority Client in Kingston.

In this role you will manage a varied residential environmental health caseload, investigate complaints and take appropriate action to improve housing conditions and protect public health.

Duties:

• Investigate residential environmental health complaints including poor housing conditions, damp and mould, noise, nuisance and pest infestations
• Carry out inspections of private sector housing and HMOs, including HHSRS assessments
• Take appropriate enforcement action, including drafting and serving statutory notices under relevant housing and environmental legislation
• Work with partner agencies and prepare evidence for legal proceedings, including attendance at court or tribunal where required

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

• Experience in environmental health, housing standards, or a similar regulatory enforcement role
• Experience carrying out property inspections and assessing housing conditions using relevant legislation or frameworks (e.g. HHSRS)
• Experience managing a caseload and making proportionate enforcement decisions
• Experience working with external partners and preparing reports or case files for formal or legal processes

What's on offer:

Salary: £41ph

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 3-6 months minimum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
