Interim Legal Disrepair Manager
Location: London, Hybrid
Rate: £450 per day umbrella
Contract: Initial 6 months, with potential to extend up to 2 years
Spencer Clarke Group working with a London local authority to appoint an experienced Interim Legal Disrepair Manager to lead a high-profile service area within housing and asset management.
This is a senior leadership role for someone who can manage a large operational team, drive stronger performance across disrepair case handling, and help shape a wider improvement strategy focused on reducing claims, improving contractor performance, and delivering better value for money.
Responsibilities include
- Leading a tier of the legal disrepair service within a large housing function
- Managing team leaders and officers to improve case handling, service quality and outcomes
- Overseeing the council's response to legal disrepair and arbitration matters
- Managing contractors and external legal partners to ensure strong performance
- Driving improvement plans that reduce service failure and future liability
- Monitoring performance, costs, legal deadlines and compliance with court orders
- Supporting wider service transformation and change management activity
- Producing and reviewing performance data, action plans and service updates for senior leaders
About You
- Proven experience leading housing disrepair services in a local authority or social housing setting
- Strong management background, including leading larger teams through performance improvement
- Good understanding of legal disrepair claims, housing maintenance and contractor management
- Experience working closely with legal teams and external partners
- Able to manage budgets, challenge poor performance and drive operational improvement
