School Caretaker
Location: Longsight, Manchester
Hours: 35 hours per week (11:00am - 6:00pm)
Pay Rate: £17.50 per hour
We are currently recruiting for a School Caretaker to join a school in Longsight, Manchester. This is a great opportunity for a reliable and proactive individual to play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and secure environment.

About the Role


Working under the direction of senior staff, you will support the day-to-day maintenance, security, and cleanliness of the site. As a key holder, you will take responsibility for ensuring the premises are secure and fully prepared for daily use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general caretaking duties including cleaning, maintenance, and minor repairs
  • Act as a key holder, ensuring the security of buildings and grounds
  • Undertake portering duties, including moving furniture and equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness across designated areas, both inside and outside
  • Support with food preparation and ensure food hygiene standards are met
  • Monitor stock levels and report any shortages
  • Use equipment safely and report any faults or hazards
  • Assist with maintaining specialist equipment (training provided)
  • Follow all health & safety, safeguarding, and confidentiality procedures
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team

What We're Looking For

  • Practical skills in maintenance, cleaning, and basic repairs
  • Understanding (or willingness to learn) health & safety, COSHH, and food hygiene procedures
  • Ability to carry out manual handling tasks safely
  • A team player with a proactive and flexible approach
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within an educational environment
  • Commitment to safeguarding and supporting young people
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
