On behalf of our South East Local Authority client, Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced Interim Head of SEND Improvements to provide senior leadership and strategic programme oversight.
The Interim Head of SEND Improvements will lead the implementation of the Priority Improvement Action Plan to improve outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role will ensure statutory compliance and promote effective co-production with families and stakeholders.
Essential Requirements:
- Strong understanding of SEND policy, legislation and statutory guidance including the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and The Children and Families Act 2014.
- Proven experience of senior leadership within the SEND Service.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience of working for a Local Authority.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Develop and deliver a unified plan that brings together multiple improvement workstreams, ensuring clear priorities and alignment of resources.
- Improve data quality and reporting to enable decision makers to focus coordinated action where it is needed most, whilst proactively identifying risks and setting out mitigation strategies for each key risk.
- Ensure that key SEND improvement priorities are delivered swiftly and effectively, with clear evidence of the impact on the outcomes of children and young people with SEND.
Skills required:
- Experience of successfully delivering large-scale, complex transformation programmes within SEND, education, health, and social care sectors.
- Able to communicate effectively and build strong working relationships with parents, schools and multi-agency professionals.
- A strategic approach with the ability to align long-term vision with effective day-to-day delivery.
