Building Safety Manager

Location: South London
Rate: £425 to £550 per day
Working Pattern: 2 days office 3 days remote
Contract: 6-months

Spencer Clarke Group are recruiting for an Interim Building Safety Manager to support a London borough housing service with the management of higher-risk residential buildings (HRBs). You will play a key role in ensuring statutory compliance and providing assurance around building safety across a social housing portfolio.

This is a hands-on compliance and assurance role, working across stakeholders including housing teams, asset management, repairs, residents and external regulators.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the operational management of building safety for designated HRBs
  • Managing compliance across key legislation and guidance (Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety - Order 2005)
  • Developing, maintaining and reviewing Building Safety Cases and Building Safety Case Reports
  • Coordinating inspections, reviews, audits and risk-based assessments
  • Supporting resident engagement on safety matters, ensuring communication is clear and accessible
  • Liaising with regulators and relevant external bodies, ensuring timely submissions and responses
  • Supporting delivery of building safety works (minor improvements through to major works programmes)
  • Coaching and supporting operational teams to embed a positive compliance culture

About you:

  • Strong working knowledge of building safety and fire safety legislation in a social housing context
  • Experience in building safety, housing compliance, fire safety, or a closely related area
  • Proven involvement with safety case documentation (including Building Safety Case Reports) and multi-disciplinary coordination
  • Confident engaging residents and stakeholders, and supporting continuous improvement
  • CIOB Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management (completed or working towards)
  • Ongoing CPD and eligibility for relevant professional memberships (CIOB/IOSH/IFE/IFSM/RICS or similar) is beneficial
