Spencer Clarke Group are working with a supportive primary school in Skelmersdale who are seeking an Unqualified SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, communication needs and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will help pupils access learning, develop confidence and achieve positive outcomes within a structured and nurturing environment.
The school are looking for someone who can provide consistency, reliability and punctuality, building strong relationships with pupils who thrive with familiar routines and trusted adults. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in care, residential settings, youth work or specialist support who is looking to transition into education.
The Role:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.
- Support children with Autism, ADHD and a range of additional learning needs.
- Help pupils regulate emotions, manage behaviour and engage positively in lessons.
- Work alongside the class teacher to adapt learning activities and provide personalised support.
- Support speech, language and communication development.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
- Maintain a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Build consistent and trusting relationships that enable pupils to flourish.
Essential Experience:
Applicants should have experience supporting children or young people with:
- SEND or additional learning needs.
- Autism (ASC), ADHD or communication needs.
- Behavioural or emotional regulation needs.
- Physical or medical needs (desirable).
- Care, residential, youth work or similar support backgrounds.
Applications without relevant SEND or support experience may not be shortlisted.
