Traffic Engineer
Location: South West
Rate: 34 per hour
Contract: 6 months
Spencer Clarke Group are working alongside a Local Authority in the South West is looking for an experienced Traffic Engineer to deliver a varied programme of local traffic schemes.
You will take schemes from concept through detailed design and into construction, working closely with internal stakeholders and an in-house delivery team.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing and supervising traffic schemes, including walking and cycling improvements, traffic calming, speed limit changes, crossings and waiting restriction reviews
- Producing construction packs and health and safety documentation in line with CDM regulations
- Supporting delivery through the construction phase, responding to technical queries and coordinating with internal teams (street lighting, signals, legal, etc.)
- Managing consultations and stakeholder engagement with the public, councillors and parish councils
- Preparing reports, including objection reports for decision making
- Delegating tasks to junior staff and supporting team delivery
About you:
- Considerable relevant traffic/highways engineering experience, plus degree/HNC/HND (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of DMRB, TSRGD, and the Traffic Signs Manual
- Good knowledge of CDM regulations and wider health and safety legislation
- Confident report writer, able to present to senior stakeholders and members
- Full driving licence - site visits required
