Senior SEND Officer

£360 per day

3-6 month initial contract

Hybrid - North London (1 day in office per fortnight)

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Senior SEND Officer to provide leadership to a team of SEN Case Officers within a North London Local Authority, supporting them with complex SEN casework in order to ensure the most positive outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of 12 months working in a Senior SEND Case Officer role for a Local Authority.
  • Secure understanding of the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and The Children and Families Act 2014.
  • Proven experience of managing complex SEN casework, including EHCPs, EHE, and LAC cases.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Lead and supervise the SEND casework team by providing line management, professional supervision and support to SEND Officers and EHC Coordinators.
  • Liaise regularly with families, schools, health professionals, and social care to ensure coordinated support for children and young people with SEND.
  • Contribute to service improvement and quality assurance by monitoring casework standards, identifying areas for development and implementing best practices.

Skills required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to analyse complex information and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Skilled in providing leadership, performance management and professional guidance to ensure high-quality casework and positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
