Spencer Clarke Group are looking to appoint an outstanding Head of SEND to lead Medway Council's statutory services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality provision in order to achieve the most positive outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
As Head of SEND you will be responsible for leading statutory compliance, continuous improvement, financial management, and collaborative working across education, health, and social care.
Essential Requirements:
- Significant senior leadership experience within SEND, education or children's services with a thorough understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory frameworks.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and decision-makers to achieve strategic objectives and drive positive outcomes.
- A genuine commitment to improving the future opportunities of children and young people with SEND.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Provide meaningful and supportive line management to specialist teams, including Complaints and Tribunals.
- Manage financial budgets to effectively allocate the deployment of the Local Authority's resources.
- Lead strategic partnership working across education, health and social care to drive system-wide improvement, influence commissioning decisions and deliver better outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
Skills required:
- Proven ability to lead and embed service improvement, ensuring robust performance management and effective risk control.
- Strong strategic thinking and the ability to use data to identify priorities and inform change to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
- Extensive knowledge of SEND legislation and statutory responsibilities, with a strong understanding of EHCP processes.
