Role Overview
We are seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teacher to deliver personalised learning to children and young people with special educational needs.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting learners who face barriers to mainstream education. You will help them re-engage with learning, build confidence and achieve their potential through flexible, creative and inclusive teaching approaches.
About the Provision
The provision supports learners aged 7-19 through personalised and flexible education pathways. It offers a blend of academic and vocational learning in safe, supportive environments designed to meet diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, personalised learning to small groups and on a one-to-one basis across local hubs
- Adapt curriculum content and teaching strategies to meet a wide range of SEN needs
- Build positive, trusting relationships with learners and advocate for their individual needs
- Involve learners and families in planning, decision-making and progress reviews
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health & safety and compliance
- Support assessments, progress tracking, reporting and EHCP-related documentation
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to gather learner information and maintain accurate records
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement
- Engage in ongoing professional development
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role as required
Person Specification
Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong understanding of adapting curriculum and teaching for learners with SEN
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Experience supporting young people with anxiety and diverse learning needs
- Ability to build trust and positive relationships with learners and families
- Understanding of structured and visual teaching approaches
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Willingness to travel between sites
Desirable:
- Experience working within alternative provision or specialist education settings
- Experience delivering personalised or therapeutic-informed learning approaches
