SEMH Teaching Assistant Blackburn

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Blackburn. This is a full-time role supporting a Year 3 pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them to access learning, develop positive relationships, and achieve their full potential.
This position is initially available until October half-term. Depending on the needs of the school and the suitability of the successful candidate, there may be an opportunity for the role to continue beyond this date; however, this cannot be guaranteed.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with SEMH and SEN needs.
- Build a positive, trusting relationship to encourage engagement and emotional wellbeing.
- Support the pupil both in the classroom and during other school activities.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate
- Has previous experience working with children with SEMH and/or SEN, ideally within a primary school setting.
- Is patient, resilient, and able to build strong relationships with children.
- Has excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
- Is committed to supporting pupils to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential) or has equivalent experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
