Major Projects Planning Officer
Location: South East England
Rate: £70.72 Per hour (Outside IR35)
Contract: 6 - Months
Spencer Clarke Group are recruiting for an experienced Major Projects Planning Officer to pick up a varied caseload of major planning applications within a local authority Development Management team.
This role will suit a hands-on case officer who can confidently manage complex applications from allocation to determination, working at pace and producing clear, defensible recommendations.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing a caseload of major planning applications across residential, commercial and energy related development
- Leading consultations, negotiations and stakeholder engagement to drive applications forward
- Producing high quality reports and recommendations, including committee style reports where required
- Working with planning conditions and planning obligations as needed to support robust decision making
- Using delegated authority to determine applications where the case officer is the person being mentored
About you:
- Strong recent local authority Development Management experience
- Confident handling major applications and complex stakeholder environments
- Clear written reporting, with sound planning judgement and attention to detail
- Comfortable mentoring and supporting junior team members
