Head of Service Waste
Location: West Midlands
Rate: Negotiable DOE
Contract: 1 Year
A public sector partnership is preparing for the next phase of its waste disposal arrangements and is seeking an experienced interim to lead the procurement strategy and programme for post contract waste disposal.
This is a senior assignment with a focus on building an effective route to market, aligning partners and governance, managing risk, and ensuring the programme is resourced and deliverable.
Responsibilities include
- Develop the procurement strategy and delivery programme for future waste disposal arrangements
- Lead engagement across partner authorities and key stakeholders
- Establish and manage governance, risks, dependencies and resourcing
- Prepare and present reports and recommendations for senior leadership and committees
- Ensure compliance across waste regulation and public procurement requirements
- Support and work alongside existing waste management and service teams
About you
- Significant senior experience in waste disposal / waste management within the public sector
- Strong procurement and tendering experience for complex, high value services
- Strong programme leadership, governance, reporting, and stakeholder management skills
- Confident presenting complex issues to senior audiences, including elected Members
