Family Time Worker / Family Contact Worker

Location: Southampton
Pay Rate: £16.62
Contract Type: 3-6 months with view of an extension
Hours: Full-Time (37 hours per week)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Family Time Worker / Family Contact Worker to support a busy service in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference by facilitating safe, child-focused family contact sessions while promoting positive relationships and supporting the best outcomes for children and families.

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will supervise and observe family time sessions, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children while producing clear, factual reports to support care planning and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities


  • Supervise and facilitate family time/contact sessions between children and their families.

  • Ensure all contact sessions are safe, child-focused, and delivered in line with safeguarding procedures.

  • Observe interactions and accurately record the quality of contact.

  • Produce clear, objective, and evidence-based reports following each session.

  • Support children and families before, during, and after contact sessions.

  • Build positive and professional relationships with children, parents, carers, and partner agencies.

  • Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, escalating where necessary.

  • Work collaboratively with Social Workers and other professionals to support children's care plans.

  • Maintain accurate case records and complete all required documentation within agreed timescales.


Key Requirements


  • Previous experience working as a Family Time Worker, Family Contact Worker, Children's Support Worker, or within Children's Social Care.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures.

  • Experience supervising family contact sessions and producing factual reports.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and objective in challenging situations.

  • Excellent written recording skills.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
