An exciting opportunity has arisen within a forward-thinking Youth Justice Service (YJS) that works in partnership with a range of agencies to support children and young people aged 10-17 who have offended or are at risk of entering the criminal justice system.


The successful candidate will work within the Prevention Team, undertaking assessments of young people referred to the service and delivering targeted interventions aimed at reducing anti-social behaviour, preventing offending, and improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.


This is a rewarding role for a practitioner who is passionate about engaging with young people, building positive relationships, and supporting meaningful behavioural change.


Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake assessments of children and young people referred to the Youth Justice Service Prevention Team.
  • Develop, plan, and deliver targeted interventions to address anti-social behaviour and reduce the risk of offending or re-offending.
  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with young people and their families.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to support effective intervention planning and delivery.
  • Apply restorative justice principles and restorative approaches within day-to-day practice.
  • Maintain accurate case records and contribute to multi-agency planning and reviews.
  • Support young people to engage with services and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Requirements

  • Experience working with children and young people, particularly those who may be vulnerable, disengaged, or involved in anti-social behaviour.
  • Understanding of the youth justice system and how it impacts children and young people aged 10-17.
  • Knowledge of restorative justice principles and restorative approaches.
  • Ability to engage effectively with young people and demonstrate a track record of building positive professional relationships.
  • Experience undertaking assessments and developing intervention plans is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a multi-agency environment.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and report-writing skills.


Contract Length: 3-6 months with a view to extend to an ongoing contract.
Pay Rate: £16.62 PAYE
Working pattern - 37 hours per week.
