Client Financial Affairs Manager - Interim
Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a London Borough to appoint an Interim Client Financial Affairs Manager to lead a specialist Client Affairs function.
This is a specialist finance administration and service leadership assignment, focused on overseeing the financial affairs of adults who lack mental capacity, ensuring safe, compliant and effective management across appointeeship, deputyship, benefits, estates and client money.

Contract length: Until the end of the financial year
Potential to go permanent at the end of the contract
Hybrid working: 2-3 days per week on-site
Office locations: RBKC / Westminster

The successful candidate will manage a specialist Client Affairs team responsible for overseeing the finances of adults who lack mental capacity.
This is not a generic finance role or direct social care post. The Council are looking for someone with strong client financial affairs, appointeeship, deputyship and Office of the Public Guardian experience, alongside the ability to line manage staff and act as a subject matter expert.
Key responsibilities:
· Leading and managing a specialist Client Affairs team.
· Providing oversight across appointeeship, deputyship and client financial affairs.
· Ensuring compliance with Office of the Public Guardian, DWP and Court of Protection requirements.
· Overseeing the management of finances for adults who lack mental capacity.
· Authorising payments and ensuring effective controls around online banking processes.
· Supporting work relating to benefits, estates, client money and property protection.
· Providing advice and guidance to professionals across Adult Social Care, Finance, Legal and external partners.
· Managing service risks, quality assurance, audit activity and compliance standards.
· Supporting continuous improvement across processes, policies and team performance.
About You
You will ideally have:
· Experience within Client Affairs, Appointeeship, Deputyship or Court of Protection services.
· Strong knowledge of Office of the Public Guardian requirements.
· Experience managing finances for vulnerable adults or adults lacking mental capacity.
· Knowledge of DWP appointeeship, benefits, estates and client money processes.
· Previous line management or team leadership experience.
· Ability to oversee payment processes and adapt to online banking systems.
· Local authority or public sector experience would be beneficial, but direct social care experience is not essential.
