About the Role

Spencer Clarke Group is seeking confident and reliable Cover Supervisors / Unqualified Secondary Teachers to work in a range of mainstream secondary schools across Wigan. This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain classroom experience.
You will be responsible for delivering pre set lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher, ensuring students remain engaged and on task while maintaining a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 using work set by the absent teacher
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
• Ensure a safe and productive learning environment
• Support students with their work and respond to general questions
• Report back to teaching staff on student progress and behaviour
• Follow safeguarding and school procedures at all times

Requirements

• Experience working with young people (e.g. tutoring, coaching, youth work, or school-based roles)
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• A confident, adaptable, and proactive approach
• A degree or relevant qualification (preferred but not essential)
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
• Right to work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
