Repairs & Maintenance Manager
Location: West Sussex
Rate: £350 - 400 Per Day
Contract: 6 - Months
Spencer Clarke Group are recruiting for an interim Repairs & Maintenance Manager to lead a high-standard, customer-focused repairs and maintenance service across a social housing portfolio. The postholder will drive a right first-time culture, improve resident satisfaction, and ensure contractors and internal teams consistently meet performance targets.
You will take ownership of responsive repairs, void turnaround, disrepair case management, and service improvement, while ensuring strong governance, compliance, and value for money. You will also work closely with the wider housing and asset functions to deliver planned and cyclical programmes effectively.
Responsibilities include
- Leading delivery of responsive repairs, focusing on quality, timeliness, and performance against KPIs
- Managing voids, reducing turnaround times and minimising void rent loss
- Overseeing disrepair cases, progressing documentation, and supporting legal proceedings where required
- Supporting delivery of planned, cyclical, and capital works programmes with internal stakeholders
- Building and maintaining compliance schedules, audits, action plans, and reporting
- Contract management, performance management, and continuous improvement using data and insight
- Managing budgets, procurement activity, and contributing to effective governance and reporting
- Handling complex escalations including stage 2 complaints, FOIs, and ombudsman style enquiries
- Leading and developing teams, setting target, and maintaining wellbeing and performance
About you
- Significant experience leading repairs and maintenance services within social housing or the public sector
- Strong contractor management and performance improvement track record
- Experience managing voids and driving operational efficiency
- Exposure to disrepair case management and compliance frameworks
- Confident with budgets, procurement, and governance reporting
- Able to lead teams, manage stakeholders, and maintain a customer-first culture
- CIH Level 4 is beneficial, plus relevant housing or construction background
