Spencer Clarke Group are supporting a public sector organisation with the appointment of a Special Projects Fire Safety Advisor to provide technical leadership on external wall systems and building safety risks across a large residential portfolio.
This is a specialist role focused on investigative programmes, compliance assurance, and helping shape remediation strategies, with exposure to legal matters and funding applications.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing expert fire safety advice across higher-risk residential buildings
- Acting as a subject matter expert on external wall systems (EWS) and facade fire risk, aligned to PAS 9980
- Reviewing and interpreting complex reports and surveys including FRAEWs, FRAs, facade and cladding investigations, and cavity barrier assessments
- Supporting contract managers to ensure investigations are robust, consistent, and technically sound
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance, including the Building Safety Act and the Fire Safety Order
- Providing assurance, audit support, and input into regulatory engagement
- Supporting legal teams with technical evidence for claims relating to defective external wall systems
- Contributing technical input to funding applications such as the Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS)
About you:
- Strong track record in fire safety within housing, construction, or building safety
- Demonstrable experience with FRAEW review and external wall system risk
- Confident translating technical risk into clear, actionable recommendations
- Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders including consultants, internal senior teams, and residents and elected members
