Pension Fund Payroll Officer - Interim

Spencer Clarke Group are supporting a Local Authority Pension Fund with the appointment of an interim Pension Fund Payroll Officer.

This role will support the transition of pensioner payroll from the Council's existing payroll system into a payroll function integrated within the pension administration system.

What's on Offer

  • Rate: £6 PAYE per hour

  • Contract: 3-6 Months

  • Working pattern: 2 days on site - Hybrid

  • Start: ASAP

  • Location: South West

The Role

  • Support the migration of pensioner payroll into the pension administration system.

  • Work with internal pensions/payroll teams and external software providers.

  • Process monthly pensioner payroll for around 16,000 pensioners, worth circa £100m per annum.

  • Complete RTI/HMRC returns, tax code queries and associated statutory submissions.

  • Carry out monthly reconciliations, payroll controls and ledger outputs.

  • Maintain payroll records including bank details, addresses, mortality tracing and annual pension increases.

About You

  • Experience working in a payroll team for a large employer.

  • Strong payroll processing, reconciliation and control experience.

  • Good understanding of statutory payroll returns, RTI and tax code processes.

  • LGPS/pensioner payroll experience would be highly desirable.

  • Altair experience would be beneficial.
