Senior SEND Officer

£350 per day

3-6 month initial contract

Hybrid - Central London (2 days per week in office)

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Senior SEND Officer with proven experience in effectively managing a complex, high-profile caseload for our local authority client in Central London.

The SEND Case Officer will lead and manage the assessment and provision process for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring statutory responsibilities are met.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of 12 months working in a Senior SEND Officer role for a Local Authority.
  • Secure understanding of the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and The Children and Families Act 2014.
  • Proven experience of managing a full and varied caseload, including children and young people with complex and additional needs.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Coordinate and manage Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments, ensuring plans are high quality and issued within statutory time frames.
  • Represent the SEND service at meetings, such as annual reviews and mediation sessions.
  • Liaise regularly with families, schools, health professionals, and social care to ensure coordinated support for children and young people with SEND.

Skills required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and prioritise conflicting demands to meet deadlines.
  • Decision-making skills with the ability to analyse complex information and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations.
