Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEND Tribunal Officer to represent our local authority client at SEND Tribunals and support the fair and timely resolution of disputes concerning the education provision for children and young people with SEND.
The SEND Tribunal Officer will be responsible for SENDIST processes, ensuring that each appeal is handled efficiently and within statutory timeframes.
Essential Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of tribunal processes and SEN legislation including the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice (2015).
- Proven experience in representing local authorities at SEND tribunals.
- Ability to manage complex cases and prioritise workload effectively to ensure statutory deadlines are met.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Represent the Local Authority at Tribunal hearings, presenting evidence and collaborating with legal representatives.
- Facilitate discussions between schools and families to resolve disputes without the need for a formal tribunal where possible.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date records of tribunal cases and outcomes, producing detailed reports for senior management as necessary.
Skills required:
- Skilled in mediation and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to provide expert advice to colleagues and the wider local authority regarding SEND legislation.
