SEND Tribunal & Complaints Officer

Up to £450 per day

3 - 6 month initial contract

Fully remote working

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEND Tribunal & Complaints Officer to efficiently manage cases and appeals relating to the provision for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Working as part of a local authority team in London, the SEND Tribunal & Complaints Officer will promote early resolution in order to reduce the number of formal tribunal hearings wherever possible.

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of current SEND legislation with experience in representing local authorities at SEND tribunals.
  • Proven experience in handling and resolving SEND appeals and complaints.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts through mediation and negotiation.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Represent the Local Authority by preparing for and attending tribunal hearings.
  • Collate and co-ordinate casework, ensuring all documentation is submitted within statutory timescales.
  • Act as the main point of contact for families and stakeholders involved in appeals and mediation.

Skills required:

  • Ability to manage complex cases with proficiency and empathy.
  • Analytical thinker with effective problem-solving skills.
  • Highly effective in both written and spoken communication.
