SEND Group Manager

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEND Group Manager to lead the strategic planning and continuous improvement of SEND services for our Local Authority client in the Midlands.

As SEND Group Manager you will be responsible for developing and implementing policies and frameworks to ensure high-quality, inclusive education, improving outcomes for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Essential Requirements:

  • Significant leadership experience in a SEND setting.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of SEND legislation, including the Children & Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice 2015.
  • Proven ability to work successfully with a wide range of stakeholders including young people with SEND, their families and those within social care, education and health.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Ensure statutory compliance with SEND legislation and deliver high-quality, timely EHC assessments and plans.
  • Manage partnerships and resources whilst overseeing budgets and team performance.
  • Lead and support staff teams, including case officers and assessment coordinators, through supervision and effective performance management.

Skills required:

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team ensuring staff are supported, well-managed, and delivering high performance.
  • Innovative decision-making skills with the ability to resolve complex casework issues and manage risk.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships with schools, health and social care professionals, and parents/ carers.
