Principal Planning Officer
Location: London
Rate: £50 Per Hour
Working Pattern: Hybrid TBC
Contract: 6-month contract
Spencer Clarke Group are looking for an Interim Principal Planning Officer to join a busy Development Management service within a public sector organisation in London.
You will manage your own caseload, take major schemes through pre-application to post-determination, play a lead role on appeals, helping deliver a high-quality and customer-focused planning service.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing a caseload of planning applications, including producing recommendations for major applications
- Leading schemes through pre-app, application, and post-determination stages
- Owning and leading planning appeals
- Providing a first-class service to customers and stakeholders
- Working closely with internal teams to support timely, robust planning outcomes
About you:
- Strong Development Management experience, ideally including major applications
- Confident producing clear, defensible recommendations and reports
- Experience taking schemes through end-to-end planning stages
- Appeals experience (written reps, hearings, inquiries as applicable)
- Able to manage workload and stakeholders in a fast-paced public sector setting
