Management Accountant – South East London

Contract Details

Pay Rate - £300+ per day

Contract Length - Initially 3-6 months with a view to being extended on an ongoing basis.

Full time contract - Fully Remote Working - Office Attendance on Occasion

We are working with a local authority in South East London who are looking to recruit a Management Accountant an interim contract.

Role Brief

The purpose of the role is to provide professional, customer focused, efficient and effective financial services to a range of stakeholders. To work with officers across the council to ensure that appropriate financial controls are in operation (e.g. in monitoring budgets, maintenance of control accounts, authorising high volume and/or high value transactions etc), take action to be address exceptions.

Role Responsibilities:

• Closure of statutory accounts process and managing audits – working to key deadlines
• Support the strategic business partner in other key areas of monitoring and reconciliations such as Children with complex needs/SEN payments
• Monitoring of savings proposed by the service and providing advice and guidance to budget manager
• lead on the transfer of schools through academisation process

Experience Required:

• Qualified Accountant or qualified by experience
• Must have strong record of employment in areas of Children and Young People
• knowledge of the Dedicated Schools Grant and central education budgets.
