Job Title: Interim Property Partner

Location: Somerset (hybrid)

Duration: 3-6 months ongoing

Salary/Rate: Day rate Negotiable Inside IR35

 

Our client, a local authority in Somerset, is seeking an experienced Interim Property Partner to join their team. You will serve as a strategic link between Property and Lead Officers representing services using Council assets for service delivery. Your primary focus will be advising on all aspects of property asset management to maximize property performance through rationalization and cost reduction while ensuring effective service delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on all aspects of property asset management to maximize property performance.
  • Work alongside the Asset Strategy Manager and strategic service leads to develop service asset management plans.
  • Negotiate and implement land and property-related transactions.
  • Provide professional advice on all aspects of property use and occupation.
  • Lead on housing-related activities for the Housing and Landlord Services Team.
  • Manage Local Land Registry queries.
  • Conduct Housing Act “Right to Buy” valuations (average 200 to 300 valuations per annum).
  • Perform asset valuations (statutory and time-sensitive).
  • Handle estate management for shops and commercial letting arrangements (HRA commercial units).
  • Oversee HRA non-residential and non-retail assets.
  • Support housing development projects.
  • Manage leased HRA homes and leasehold management, ensuring properties are returned with vacant possession.

 

Qualifications/experience required

  • Property-related qualification (RICS etc.)  and experience in proactive property estate management within a large organization.
  • Ability to deliver clear professional advice to a wide range of service disciplines.
  • Strong negotiation, monitoring, and completion of property transactions.
  • Capability to develop and maintain service relationships while recognizing the need for asset review and challenge.
  • Understanding of the wider needs of the business, the operation of the regional economy, and the property market.
  • Appreciation of opportunities from developing and maintaining relationships with other public sector property occupiers.
