Spencer Clarke Group are looking for a Lead psychologist to join one of our private clients based in the Widnes, Cheshire area at a specialist centre for men and women with complex mental health needs.

In this senior role, you'll lead the hospital's psychological services, delivering interventions and assessments while supporting multidisciplinary care planning. You'll supervise and mentor a diverse psychology team, promoting a range of evidence-based therapies including CBT, DBT, EMDR, and third-wave approaches.

What you will do:

  • Deliver specialist psychological care for complex mental health cases.
  • Lead risk assessment and management, providing expert psychological advice to support safe and effective treatment.
  • Support clinical teams through direct interventions, staff training, and development of new initiatives to improve service delivery.
  • Drive psychology service developments using evidence-based approaches.
  • Participate in governance meetings and collaborate with internal and external agencies to enhance treatment pathways.

What we're looking for:

  • A registered Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC
  • Completed a Doctorate level qualification in applied psychology either through the British Psychological Society or a recognised training body
  • High level knowledge and expertise in working with trauma.
  • Experience in working with people with complex mental health and social needs
  • Experience in risk assessments, including violence and sexual risk assessments, such as HCR-20 or RSVP assessments.
