Interim Payroll Operations Lead – East London

 

We are working with a local authority in East London who are looking to recruit a Payroll Operations Lead on a full time contract.

 

Dat Rate: up to £650 per day

Contract: Initial 3-6 month contract with a view to being extended

Work Schedule: Full time, Monday – Friday.

Hybrid Working: Maximum 3 Days in Office

 

Role Brief: To deliver a comprehensive payroll service to ensure all are paid accurately and on time. To carry out the payroll run processes and ensure adequate cover at all times.

 

What we’re looking for:

  • Significant experience of operating multiple monthly high-volume payrolls in Local Government (ideally) or other large organisations such as Government or NHS.
  • Can demonstrate in-depth knowledge of payroll technology and has a genuine interest in continuous improvement.
  • IT literate in Microsoft Suite of products and Payroll software (ideally Resource Link and Altair).

 

Key Responsibilities:

-          Responsible for Council staff and school’s payroll

-          Deliver timely and accurate payroll information and ensure third party liabilities are correctly calculated and settled. 

-          Provide day to day management support to a dedicated and skilled payroll team with a strong customer focus and decades of experience amongst individual officers.

-          Hold team meetings, 1-2-1s and provide clear strategic and business as usual direction working closely with the Head of Service.

-          Provide expert advice and ensure the Council meets its statutory obligations, keep up to date on legislative.

-          Engage with Finance and Audit colleagues. Recognise and work with internal stakeholders and external agencies effectively using feedback to manage changes and service developments successfully.
