Head of Responsive Repairs
Location: West of England, hybrid
Rate: £600 - £850 per day, Negotiable DOE
Contract: 6-months initially
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced interim leader to take ownership of a Local Authority responsive repairs service in Bristol. This is a high-profile assignment focused on stabilising performance, tackling backlog, and improving customer outcomes.
You will take a lead role across responsive repairs, compliance-led activity, contractor performance and service improvement, bringing pace, grip and clear leadership in a demanding operational environment.
Responsibilities include
- Lead the end-to-end responsive repairs service, including diagnostics, scheduling and customer care
- Drive performance improvement across underperforming contracts and delivery partners
- Tackle backlog and embed a structured approach to prioritisation and throughput
- Strengthen compliance focus across repairs and related service areas
- Provide visible leadership across teams and stakeholders, setting expectations and improving culture
- Contribute at senior level as part of the wider Housing management team
About You
- Significant leadership experience within local authority housing repairs / maintenance
- Strong background in responsive repairs, contractor management and operational performance
- Demonstrable track record improving a struggling or failing service, including backlog reduction
- Confident working in complex stakeholder environments, able to influence and drive change
