Role Overview:
Seeking a passionate and dedicated Head of Maths to lead our Maths department. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering a high-quality Maths curriculum tailored to the specific needs of our students. As the Head of Maths, you will be responsible for leading a team of teachers, ensuring that teaching approaches are inclusive, engaging, and effective in meeting the diverse needs of our pupils.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Maths department, providing direction, support, and guidance to staff members.
  • Develop and implement a bespoke Maths curriculum that caters to the individual needs of our students.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons that promote student progress and achievement.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing targeted intervention and support where necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments and senior leadership to promote cross-curricular links and holistic student development.
  • Ensure that teaching resources and materials are accessible and appropriate for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with parents, carers, and external agencies.
  • Lead and contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning within the Maths department.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching Maths to students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), preferably in a similar educational setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of staff.
  • Excellent understanding of different learning needs and strategies to support students with complex educational needs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and the ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Knowledge of relevant SEN legislation and best practices in SEND education.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
