EHCP Assessment Officer

£250 - £280 per day

3-6 month initial contract

Fully remote working

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced EHCP Assessment Officer to coordinate the statutory Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessment process for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within a local authority in South East England.

The EHCP Assessment Officer will report to the Senior SEN Officer and will be responsible for all aspects of the EHC Assessment process from initial request to the issuing of a final Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Essential Requirements:

  • Extensive experience of managing SEN Casework and writing EHCPs for a local authority.
  • Secure working knowledge of all relevant legislation including the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and the Children and Families Act 2014.
  • Strong understanding of the statutory EHCP assessment process and associated legal timelines.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Manage the entire Education, Health and Care Needs assessment process across all ages from 0-25.
  • Produce high-quality and person-centred Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Act as the first point of contact for children/ young people and their families, working closely with them throughout the assessment process.

Skills required:

  • High level of organisational and time management skills to successfully manage a large caseload.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality formal documents.
  • Confident and professional communication skills for liaising with families, schools, and professionals.
