Job Description: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality integrated day care and early education to children from birth to 7 years old within a multi-disciplinary team, aligning with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. You will contribute to planning and delivering a high-quality early years curriculum, ensuring a commitment to anti-discriminatory practice. Your responsibilities will also include promoting children’s development within a secure, safe, and stimulating environment, conducting assessments, supporting colleagues as key workers, managing children’s behavior, providing physical care, and adhering to Child Protection procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality integrated day care and early education to children from birth to 7 years within a multi-disciplinary team and in line with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Contribute to planning and support delivery of a high-quality early years curriculum, including daily, weekly, and termly planning to meet individual children's needs and interests.
  • Promote children’s development within a secure, safe, and stimulating environment, referencing good practice curriculum guidance appropriate to the ages and stages of development.
  • Input to the assessment of children’s overall development, including observations, recording achievements, and maintaining developmental records.
  • Support colleagues as key workers to specific groups of children, ensuring smooth transitions and managing behavior in line with procedural guidance.
  • Provide appropriate physical care, including washing, toileting, feeding, dressing, comforting, and administering medication.
  • Work with Child Protection procedures and report concerns to center managers.
  • Assist with organising outings for children’s interest, education, and enjoyment, ensuring safety.
  • Help children develop self-help skills, including toileting and personal hygiene, and implement individual movement programs.
  • Assist with first aid provision, comforting sick or injured children, and liaising with designated first-aiders and medical professionals in emergency situations.

Requirements:

  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a nursery or early years setting.
  • Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage and anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage behavior effectively and provide physical care.
  • Familiarity with Child Protection procedures and first aid protocols.
  • Willingness to work shifts between 8am and 6pm as required by the setting.
