We are seeking a Benefits Assessment Officer for a Local Authority Client based in East London.


In this role, you will assess individuals' financial capabilities to contribute towards their care, advising them on benefits entitlements, and managing queries and complaints effectively.


About the role:

You will be tasked with delivering key strategic objectives:

  • Conduct adult social care financial assessments to determine individuals' contributions to their care costs.
  • Gather financial information and expenditure details from service users.
  • Provide advice and guidance on benefits entitlements and deferred payment arrangements.
  • Liaise with various departments within the Local Authority and external agencies to ensure smooth coordination and resolution of queries.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently, prioritising urgent and priority cases.


About you:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Experience in carrying out adult social care financial assessments OR Housing Benefit officers with broad experience in welfare benefits advice.
  • Ability to manage a caseload.
  • Proficient in dealing with review requests, complaints, and queries.
  • Preferable experience in using the Mosaic system.


What’s on offer

Salary: £18.50+per hour

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*


Contract type: 3-6 months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension


Hours:  Monday – Friday, 36 hours per week
