Disrepair Surveyor
Location: London
Rate: £44.13 Per Hour
Working Pattern: 2 days remote, 3 in the office
Contract: 3 - months ongoing
Spencer Clarke Group are looking for an Interim Disrepair Surveyor to join a busy Legal Repairs function within a London local authority. The postholder will manage a varied caseload including live housing disrepair claims, diagnostic inspections, and party wall matters.
This is a hands-on surveying role where you will inspect, diagnose defects, specify works, and support the wider technical team, including providing technical advice and, where required, acting as an expert witness.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing a caseload of live disrepair claims and related technical cases
- Carrying out inspections and investigations, producing specifications using Schedule of Rates and composite values
- Preparing estimates, feasibility studies, sketches and drawings as required
- Diagnosing building failures, using instruments and diagnostic aids where appropriate
- Monitoring works on site, quality checking repairs and reporting variances
- Managing party wall awards
- Liaising closely with legal colleagues and internal repairs teams to mitigate and manage claims
- Maintaining accurate case files, correspondence, variation orders and certification
About you:
- Strong housing repairs and building pathology experience, ideally within a local authority or social housing setting
- Good working knowledge of disrepair processes and relevant legislation / court procedures
- Confident producing clear specs, reports and robust technical records
- Comfortable working independently across a variable caseload and dealing with stakeholders professionally
