We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant to join our dedicated team. This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people who may experience behavioural, emotional, or social challenges within an educational setting.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours, and achieve their full potential both academically and personally.
About the Role
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and SEN staff to provide targeted support for pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional guidance. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment that promotes engagement, wellbeing, and positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group behavioural support to pupils
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students
- Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour, and social interactions
- Promote positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation
- Assist teachers in maintaining a calm and productive learning environment
- Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom
- Monitor, record, and report on student progress and behaviour
- Work collaboratively with school staff, parents/carers, and external agencies
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children or young people with behavioural, SEMH, or additional support needs
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and de-escalation skills
- The ability to remain resilient and professional in challenging situations
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
- Relevant qualifications or experience in education, youth work, psychology, or care settings (desirable but not essential)
- Have an enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
