Autism Support Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated Autism Support Worker to join our supportive team at a specialist SEND school committed to helping children and young people achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and additional SEND needs
- Support students with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and parents/carers to implement individual learning and behaviour plans
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
- Assist with personal care where required
- Help create a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and equality at all times
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with autism or SEND (preferred but not essential)
- A calm, caring, and resilient nature
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
- An understanding of behaviour support strategies
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one

Experience in education, care, youth work, mental health support, or support work is highly desirable, although full training will be provided for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
