We are seeking an enthusiastic Primary Teaching Assistant or Early Years Practitioner to join our supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about helping children thrive both academically and emotionally, particularly those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the wider pastoral team to support pupils within the classroom and through targeted interventions. You will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support teaching and learning across Early Years and/or Primary phases
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Provide tailored support for children with SEMH needs
- Assist with behaviour regulation and emotional wellbeing strategies
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals
- Encourage children's independence, confidence, and social development
- Support with classroom preparation and daily routines
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children in a school or early years setting
- Proven experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs
- A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to remain positive and resilient in challenging situations
- Relevant qualifications in childcare, early years, or teaching support (desirable)
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
