Meet the Team - Shannon McGarry

We recently caught up with Principal Consultant, Shannon McGarry, to discover more about her passion for powerlifting and what motivates her at work.

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I began my journey in August 2023. After such a short time, I felt like part of the team and have never had any job like it! It has been such a great experience so far and I can't wait to see what's next for me here at Spencer Clarke Group. 

What markets do you specialise in?

I specialise in the accountancy and finance industry. I cover all roles from Account Assistants to senior finance roles across the whole of the North West. 

What do you love most about what you do?

I love learning about all the different businesses and how they run, manage change and the people that make them tick. I also love finding people their perfect roles. 

What motivates you at work?

I’m motivated by helping people find the next step in their career and helping companies find the right people to make them successful.

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

Personally, I would describe it as fun, creative and a laugh a minute! I constantly feel supported and I have some amazing tech that really helps me succeed in my job.

Tell us about your career path so far

I worked at one of the biggest recruitment agencies in the UK for 9 and a half years where I led a team of accountancy and finance recruiters. I came ready for a new challenge so when I saw the opportunity at Spencer Clarke Group, I knew I had to grab it. It was the best decision I have ever made!

How would your colleagues describe you?

I think they would describe me as knowledgeable, sarcastic (in a good way), dedicated and passionate.

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

Powerlifting, on holiday or in the pub!

Tell us something we’d never guess about you!

I have a gold medal for powerlifting. 

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

I would hopefully like to build a successful desk from scratch and one day have a team of my own! I can't wait to see what the future holds for me.

Nice in France.

Don't take things so seriously!

Mark Webber - but I didn't know who he was at the time.

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

A good book, hair clip and my cat.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, I have a cat called Boo.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I can touch my nose with my tongue.

What’s the best gig you’ve been to?

Liam Gallagher or Blue (when I was 14).

What animal is your spirit animal?

A cat.

What’s your guilty pleasure? 

One Direction and Disney films!
