Meet the Team - Joe Penny

1-2 minutes

We recently caught up with Associate Consultant, Joe Penny, to discover more about what markets he specialises in and his career path so far.

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I began my journey here at Spencer Clarke Group in May 2023. As soon as I joined, I instantly knew that it was a massive career step forward from my previous roles.

What markets do you specialise in?

I specialise in helping SEND and SEMH Teaching Assistants and Learning Mentors find roles across Manchester.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love being able to chat and meet new people everyday, which means that I get to find out more about people's backgrounds which I find very interesting! I also love that there are so many new systems that I can explore which means I can try new approaches on my candidates.

What motivates you at work?

I find it really motivating when people put their faith in me to successfully find them a role and I achieve it. Also, developing my skills is a big motivation as I can feel myself improving each and every day, knowing that all my hard work is worth it.

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

Spencer Clarke Group is such a chilled yet fast paced place to work. It’s such a modern and harmonic office which I find much easier to work in. You also know that your hard work will never go unseen. It’s by far the best place I've ever worked!

Tell us about your career path so far.

After graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University with a first degree in Philosophy, I worked on a COVID testing site for 2 years during the pandemic. I then began my career in recruitment and worked within HR for a year before joining Spencer Clarke Group - it was the best thing I ever did!

How would your colleagues describe you?

I think they would describe me as kooky, chatty and daft - but a good laugh!

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

Outside of work, you are most likely to find me indoor rock climbing or at a hot yoga session.

Tell us something we’d never guess about you!

I can write with both hands!

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

My plan is to become an all round recruitment consultant! I also want to focus on growing my skills within the industry to provide an exceptional service in an ever changing climate.
