Unqualified Teaching Assistant - SEND & SEMH Specialist Provisions

£110-£115 per day (dependent on travel and job role)
Start Date: September 2026
Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 8:30am-3:30pm | Term Time Only
We are currently recruiting for dedicated and resilient Unqualified Teaching Assistants to work within specialist provisions across the Blackburn area, supporting students with a range of SEND and SEMH additional needs.

Role Responsibilities

  • Supporting students with SEND and SEMH needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and supporting emotional regulation strategies.
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement in learning.
  • Supporting pupils both inside and outside of the classroom environment.
  • Assisting with the implementation of individual learning plans and behaviour strategies.
  • Creating a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and pastoral teams to support students' individual needs.
  • Following safeguarding and school policies at all times.

Candidate Requirements

  • A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with additional needs.
  • An Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply and pay for one (£56.90).
  • A minimum of two years of employment history within the last four years, with reference details available for this period.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • A resilient, patient, and adaptable approach to supporting young people.

This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
