Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEN School - Bury

We are seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at a Secondary SEN school in Bury, ready for the new academic year in September.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant in our secondary SEN school, you will play a crucial role in empowering students with diverse special educational needs to access their education and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals, contributing to a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support to students within the classroom and during activities.
Assist the class teacher in preparing resources and delivering engaging lessons.
Support students with their academic tasks, helping them to understand instructions and complete work.
Foster the social and emotional development of students, promoting positive interactions and self-esteem.
Help to maintain a safe, positive, and structured classroom environment conducive to learning.
Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive student support.
Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and positive behaviour management strategies.
Monitor and record student progress, providing valuable feedback to the teaching staff.
Requirements:
Experience working with children or young people, preferably within a school or educational setting.
A patient, caring, and empathetic nature, with a genuine desire to support students with SEN.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
The ability to work effectively and proactively as part of a team.
Resilience and adaptability to respond to varying student needs and situations.
A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
Desirable:
Previous experience working with secondary-aged students with a range of special educational needs (e.g., Autism, ADHD, Moderate/Severe Learning Difficulties, SEMH).
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, childcare qualification).
Training in behaviour management techniques (e.g., Team Teach).
