SEND Tribunal Officer

£400 per day

3 month initial contract

Fully remote working - Midlands Local Authority

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEND Tribunal Officer to lead and manage allocated cases within SENDIST relating to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Working as part of a local authority team in the Midlands, the SEND Tribunal Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all legal deadline dates are met and that all case preparation is in line with Tribunal rules.

Essential Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of SEND legislation including the SEND Code of Practice and Children and Families Act 2014.
• Proven experience in representing local authorities at SEND Tribunals.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to ensure that Tribunal cases are progressed according to statutory timeframes.
• Proven experience in mediation with the ability to resolve conflicts.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Represent the Local Authority by leading and attending Way Forward, Mediation and pre-Tribunal meetings as required.
• Facilitate communication between schools and families to resolve disputes amicably without the need for tribunal where possible.
• Review Tribunal decisions to identify learning points and key areas for improvement.

Skills required:

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet legal deadline dates.
• Excellent negotiation and mediation skills.
• Ability to manage complex cases and work well under pressure.
