SEND Tribunal Officer

£400 per day

3 month initial contract, likely to be extended

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEND Tribunal Officer to lead and manage allocated tribunal cases for our South East local authority client, in line with SENDIST processes and statutory requirements.

The SEND Tribunal Officer will work closely with parents, schools and professionals to resolve concerns through effective communication and early resolution, reducing the need for formal tribunal hearings where possible.

Essential Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of current SEND legislation including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015.
  • Proven experience in representing local authorities at SEND tribunals.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage a caseload effectively.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Represent the Local Authority by preparing for and attending SEND tribunals where necessary.
  • Lead and attend Way Forward, mediation and pre-Tribunal meetings with parents and professionals to settle disputes and negotiate on changes to EHC plans.
  • Offer expert advice and professional support to internal teams and external partners to ensure they are compliant with the SEND Code of Practice.

Skills required:

  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex information.
  • Highly effective written and spoken communication.
  • Skilled in resolving conflicts through mediation and negotiation.
