SEND Officer - Assessment Team

£280 per day

3 month initial contract

Remote working - Midlands

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEND Officer to successfully manage and coordinate Education, Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments and plans for a caseload of children and young people with SEND.

Working within the SEND team for our local authority client in the Midlands, the SEND Case Officer will be responsible for drafting and amending Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring they are high quality, person centred and legally compliant.

Essential Requirements:

• Secure knowledge of SEND regulations including the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and The Children and Families Act 2014.
• Proven experience of working within SEND for a local authority.
• Ability to prioritise and manage a demanding caseload.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Process requests for EHC needs assessments, ensuring they are completed within statutory timeframes.

• Draft and amend Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring they reflect the needs and aspirations of the child or young person and their families.

• Liaise regularly with families, education, health and social care professionals to ensure coordinated support that promotes multi-agency collaboration.

Skills required:

• Excellent time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships with families and stakeholders.
• Able to effectively identify and assess the needs of children or young people through relevant assessments.
