Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced Preparing for Adulthood (PFA) SEND Officer to manage a caseload of young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that provision meets their identified needs and statutory requirements.

Working for our local authority client in South East England, the SEND Case Officer will coordinate Education Health and Care (EHC) needs assessments, leading to the creation of high quality and person centred Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years recent experience working as a SEND Officer within a Local Authority setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice (2015) and the Children and Families Act (2014).
  • Strong understanding and proven experience of the Preparing for Adulthood (PFA) framework.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Draft, finalise and maintain EHCPs that reflect the current needs, provision, and outcomes of young people with SEND.
  • Co-ordinate the statutory EHC Assessment, annual reviews and phased transfers, ensuring all statutory deadlines are met.
  • Support the transition of young people with SEND into adulthood, ensuring a seamless process and the appropriate provision is in place.

Skills required:

  • Able to successfully manage a busy caseload, prioritise tasks and meet statutory deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with partners across education, health, social care and employment services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, ensuring professionalism, accuracy and legal compliance.
