SEND Case Officer

Up to £300 per day

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a number of SEND Case Officers to contribute to meeting the needs of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) within a South West Local Authority.

The SEND Case Officers will ensure that Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments, plans and reviews are completed within statutory timescales and are high quality and outcomes focused.

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience of SEND Casework for a Local Authority.
• Solid understanding of SEND legislation including the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and The Children and Families Act 2014.
• Strong knowledge of Education, Health and Care (EHC) processes and statutory requirements.

Duties include but not limited to:

• Manage a caseload of children and young people with SEND, liaising with families and education providers to secure appropriate support and provision.
• Arrange and contribute to multi-agency meetings and annual reviews, representing the Local Authority where required.
• Co-ordinate the assessment of the child or young person's needs, review existing support and ensure those needs are being effectively met.

Skills required:

• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a large and varied caseload including some complex cases.
• Able to build effective working relationships with parents, schools and professionals.
• Strong written communication to draft and finalise EHCPs, ensuring they are accurate, evidence-based and compliant with statutory requirements.
