Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a number of experienced SEND Assistant Tribunal Officers to prepare written responses to SENDIST appeals for a South West Local Authority, ensuring timely submission and compliance with statutory duties.
The SEND Assistant Tribunal Officer will act as the main point of contact for parents, Headteachers and SEND Coordinators, providing support with cases, appeals and disputes relating to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Essential Requirements:
- A strong knowledge of relevant legislation and tribunal procedures including the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEN Code of Practice 2015.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to ensure that Tribunal cases are progressed according to statutory timeframes.
- Strong written communication skills to prepare concise, accurate and professional tribunal responses.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Provide administrative and organisational support to the Senior SEND Tribunal Officer in the preparation of cases where appeals have been lodged.
- Review Tribunal decisions to identify learning points and key areas for improvement.
- Work independently to find creative solutions to complex problems in order to resolve or defend appeals lodged with SENDIST.
Skills required:
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks to meet legal deadline dates.
- Ability to monitor own performance against key indicators to ensure statutory compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with parents, schools, professionals, and legal representatives.
