Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEMH School (Bolton) - Immediate Start
We are currently seeking an experienced and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a secondary SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Bolton, with an immediate start available.
This role is ideal for someone who has a strong background working with young people who present with SEMH needs, and who is confident in supporting pupils with challenging behaviour in a structured and nurturing environment.
The Role:
- Provide in-class support to students aged 11-16 with SEMH needs
- Work on a one-to-one and small group basis to support learning, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons and behaviour strategies
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote progress and wellbeing
- Support the implementation of individual behaviour and support plans
- De-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively
Requirements:
- Proven experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
- Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries
- A proactive, patient, and resilient attitude
- Team Teach training (or willingness to undertake training) is desirable
