Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:00pm

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for a resilient and committed SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting in Failsworth, Manchester. This is a full-time role starting immediately, supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The role involves working with pupils who may display challenging behaviour, so candidates must be confident, patient, and able to build strong, positive relationships.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
  • Support pupils in managing behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Implement behaviour management strategies consistently
  • Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams
  • Help create a structured, safe, and supportive learning environment
  • Respond effectively to challenging behaviour situations

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within SEMH or similar settings
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Calm, resilient, and proactive approach
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries
  • Team player with good communication skills

Desirable

  • Team Teach training (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience working in PRU or alternative provision settings
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
